Texas in July. The only thing hotter might be the jalapeno peppers that spice our food. Not a problem if air
conditioning is available, or if there’s a swimming pool nearby.

Naturally, swim time is a favorite activity at Royal Family Kids Camp. Some children never experience that pleasure except at camp. Micah, in fact, couldn’t swim. Her counselor, Michele, was determined to teach the eleven-year-old this skill before the week ended. She tried everything – modeling the stroke, pulling the girl around by the
hands, and even floating.

And then, almost by accident, she suggested trying a pair of goggles so Micah could practice. The moment the camper donned the swimming gear on her face, a new world opened up to her. She could see under the water! Since it was Wednesday, the day we celebrate every child’s birthday with a party, Micah exclaimed, “This is the best birthday present I’ve ever had!”

By coincidence it really was counselor Michele’s birthday. “No,” she said, “this is the best birthday present I’ve ever had!”.
