Chosen Child of God
During chapel time this summer, the Bible teacher taught the campers a piece of the theme Bible verse each day. This particular year, it was 1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
On the first day, she explained “a chosen people.” As she called two helpers onto the stage, she had each child look into a mirror. She would ask them, “What do you see?” They replied, “Me.” She would then reply, “I see a chosen child of God.” Each child’s face would beam as they heard those words wash over them.
Each one of these children we serve is a chosen child of God. Though circumstances may make it feel like no one chooses them, hopefully they leave camp knowing that God chose them. God chooses them each and every day.
