Princess of Quite A Lot

We have every opportunity to speak truth and life into our kids. Yesterday at Cosmic Day, a young girl found her name posted on the wall. All the counselors had written posters of encouragement with highlighters for each of their campers in preparation for this day. The young camper spotted her name on the wall and asked her counselor to read it. “Child, you are valued!” the young princess counselor read. The young princess asked, “What does the word valued mean?” The counselor responded, “Well, it means you are important. You are valuable to someone. You are valuable to me.”

Later, as the princesses were all getting ready for bed, this young princess was still pondering the thought that she could possibly be valued. As her counselor was brushing the young princess’ hair, she was sharing with her the plans for their next day: celebrating everyone’s birthday with a party! The birthday party is a crowd favorite; everyone gets the opportunity to feel valued, important, and celebrated.

The young princess still questioned, “How am I important?” Tuning into God’s heart for His princess, the young girl’s counselor replied, “You are important to me. I care about you. But most importantly, God truly cares about you. He desires for you to feel valued, important, and loved.”

These two young princesses had spent about two days together, but once again, the deep meaningful impact of acceptance can be made at any opportunity. Remember to be mindful of how you are being used to make a difference in the lives of God’s children.
